Airline Roundtrip Penalty
Airlines Like British Airways Find New Way To Steal Money For Poor Working Families As They Design Rules That Keep Children From Flying Back To Their Family

- http://www.travelsecrets.com/secrets/airtactics.htm - Consumers should boycott British Airways that unfairly penalize families that try to return their children to America using cheaper round trip tickets. In one case, British Airways demanded a family forfeit the entire cost of a $700 round trip ticket when their child tried to use just the return portion of the ticket.
- From conversation with a Travelocity travel agent, speaking about British Airlines:
They are the people who are very strict about their rules, I really mean that. I have been trying a lot get things done for some passengers on previous calls. They were very rude. They are very strict and rude.
Q. It's so sad that making problem with the credit card will create a problem for travelocity, even though travelocity sent most all of the money on to British Airways.
A. We just keep $5 as a booking fee, the rest of the money goes to the airline.
In this case, the airline cancelled the return ticket when the child did not show up for the outgoing flight. So the return ticket was cancelled before the child even went to the airport for the return flight. British Airways did not inform the family of this fact, and eventhough Travelocity was also aware of the cancellation prior to the departure of the return flight, they also did nothing to inform the family of the cancellation. It is unfortunate that Travelocity still wants to sell tickets for an airline that is so heartless, and causes them to waste so much time on the behalf of their customers who are taken advantage of by British Airways.
Just before the outgoing flight was missed, the travelocity agent said that they family should have called Travelocity or British Airways to let them know. But it seems that even if they had called, there was still nothing to be done. No one at British Airways gave us this clue, no one say "Did you call first to let us know?"
